Exclusive to the Alcoscan ALC-1 is the ability to replace the on-board sensor module. Other breathalyzers routinely need to be sent to a specialized facility for re-calibration. This device is the only of its kind to be built with the ability to remove and replace the module yourself. The typical lifespan of the sensor module is roughly 1,000 uses, at which point you’d pop it out and install a new, pre-calibrated one, saving both time and money.
The Alcoscan ALC-1 includes a built-in mouthpiece, but also supports disposable varieties should you prefer. Test results are available within a matter of seconds and are displayed in a large, easily readable output on the backlit LED display. Certified by the FDA, CE, DOT, and Australian Standards Association, the Alcoscan ALC-1 puts the power of larger and more expensive breathalyzers in the palm of your hand.

Which means you do not need to send the alcohol tester to a lab for re-calibration, instead, simply purchase a pre-calibrated replacement sensor module and replace the existing sensor module — its extremely easy to replace the sensor module, simply take out the existing one and put in the new one.
